Anne Frank

We've been talking about World War II in history for the past week or so. I've always found this a pretty fascinating time period and I like studying it. (That's a big part of why I like Molly.) Anyways, our school is having an assembly for the academic awards this quarter, and our teacher volunteered our class to put on a play. And since we're studying WWII, she decided on The Diary of Anne Frank. The assembly is this friday, right before the break starts, and a lot of parents will be there. Because my teacher is really scatter brained and crazy, we didn't start rehearsing the play until today. (No, that wasn't a typo. Today.)

First thing this morning, she assigned parts. I was chosen to play Anne Frank. I was really honored at first, and then I realized I had been a) type cast, and b) completely bamboozled, as that part has A LOT of lines.

Well, before we started rehearsing, to give the class some background on the time period and what-not, we watched this film about the Holocaust. It was SO sad. I didn't mean to, but the film really upset me and I sorta started to cry a little. Not like bawling or anything, but still. This girl named Claire who sits next to me noticed and leaned over and called me "a stupid, overly-sensitive baby." And I wiped my eyes, and kinda without thinking accidentally called her a stupid little... well, I won't repeat the word, because it was kinda bad. And of course, I got in trouble. I didn't even mean to say it... I guess it's something I picked up from my sisters, since they jokingly call each other that at least 10 times a day. The punishment? Lunchtime detention for two days, a call home, and I lost my part in the play. The ironic bit? The new Anne Frank is CLAIRE. Whatever... I didn't want to be in a play anyways.

The good thing, I suppose is that my parents didn't get too mad. My mom told me to watch my mouth from now on (which I promise I will *angelic smile*) and my dad took one of my comics. (And that was only because he wanted to read it.)

A Spring Afternoon

It's been surprisingly Spring-like here lately. Where I live, it's really dry so the plant life isn't as pretty or healthy as we'd like, but we still try to enjoy it.

Yesterday, on Saturday, Quinn came over to play and we had planned to spend the whole afternoon outside looking for lady bugs or dandelions or even four leaf clovers. But instead, my mom told us to sit down on the porch and be still so we wouldn't sunburn or anything.

And that proved to be... really boring. So after a while, my mom found sun block, drenched us both in it, and allowed us to leave the shade. We went in to the lawn and searched for ages for anything fun, but all we found was grass.

We did notice that the buds on my mom's rose bushes looked like they'd bloom soon, but she doesn't allow anyone playing near her flowers (lol). After we got bored outside, we came back in and watched the movies Harriet the Spy and The Parent Trap. We made popcorn first, and I felt a bunch of energy so I started doing cartwheels and somersaults in the living room. Then my mom kinda yelled at me, but I didn't really care. LOL. If I took it personal every time she yelled at me, I'd have left home when I was like three.

If you happened to notice my new avatar, that's where it came from. =)

New Header (among other things)

First of all... what do you all think of my brand new header? =)

Also... are you all sitting down?

Yes... that's me in a dress! Bre got Molly's school outfit and thought I should try it on. I actually ended up wearing it to school. That's proof for everyone that doubted... it doesn't happen frequently, but yes, I do at times wear dresses! And this one was a jumper, which I don't mind as much.

Also, I'm going to be getting a special prize for selling the second most amount of cookies this year in my troop. I don't know what I'll get yet, but I'm pretty excited. Also, in a couple of weeks, my troop is going on a nature hike in the mountains. That'll be so fun! Our troop may also go to GS camp this summer. I don't know if I'm keen on that yet... I've never gone to stay away camp. But we'll see.

Quinn and I have decided to go into a sort of a business babysitting to make extra money. She has lots of experience, and I have junior first aid training from Girl Scouts, so we've actually got a few appointments lined up over the coming weekends. We're always going to sit together, that way the parents feel better about it. One lady asked us to watch her 12 year old daughter. Being that we're both 10, we definitely had to turn that one down.

Apart from school, that's nearly all that's going on with me... I'll get you up to date soon on how our business is coming along. =)

Until next time,
