100th post! Can you believe it?

Hello, dear blog friends! It is I, Wendy, your faithful blogger! I have to apologize right away for my lack of posts. Knowing that this was going to be my 100th, I wanted to do something special for it... I wanted to wait until I had a sensational idea, big news, or both. But the truth is, as time wore on and I concentrated more, I decided that I should do something sort of introspective and commemorative. (And I'll try not to hurt my arm patting myself on the back, lol.)

My first post ever was written on January 2, 2009. If you weren't reading my blog way back then, or you don't really remember what I said (and I'll be honest here... I didn't really remember myself!), you can read that post here.

When I made that post, I was much younger, and very different. I didn't really have any friends, so it was always hard for me to talk to people. Talking to you all on this blog made me feel wanted and accepted. Suddenly, there were people who thought I was cool too, and interesting enough to read about! I became more confident almost immediately. Soon after opening this blog, I met Quinn... and she's still my very best friend. We have very little in common besides the fact that we value each other and our friendship above anything else.

Since this blog began, I've met many, many dolls. Bre's collection has more than TRIPLED -- from 6 dolls in January of 2009 to her current collection of 16 AG dolls, a bitty baby, 2 Gotz dolls, 2 Journey Girls, an Our Generation doll, a Magic Attic Club doll, and a Karito Kid doll, not to mention an Ellowyne, so many Barbies and friends that it's best not to count, and miscellaneous other "shelf" dolls. I've made friends through this blog who are just as dear to me as the dolls who live here, and I've met two of them in person... maybe I'll meet more soon!

I'm a more adventurous person than I used to be... specifically where fashion is concerned! I've grown to appreciate the talent it takes to create quality handmade AG clothes... and I've also grown to appreciate the beauty of historical clothes.

This blog has helped me learn and grow. I'm a bigger and better person because of it. I know more about fashion, style, photography, all of you, and most of all, myself. For this, the experience has been priceless.

I plan to update this blog much more regularly now. I want this blog to rise from it's own ashes... like a phoenix of prose and art. My goal is to continue growing and learning, and to entertain as much as possible. Thank you all for being a part of this with me!

Love Always,
Wendy M. Stein and Bre, AKA BuckinghamAlice

I'm on Facebook!

So, up until now, Bre has said that I'm not allowed on Facebook or any site like that. She said I wasn't old enough and, knowing me, would get us all into trouble. =P But since I had a birthday last month, and I've been pretty much behaving myself, she let me make a facebook page!

You can find me here.

Any of you that have pages should totally add me! I've found a few people through Bre's page, but if you have facebook and I didn't add you, go ahead and add me!

Talk to you all soon!

Love, Wendy

Bre's post: My year through doll collecting

Hello everyone! This is Wendy's ne'er-do-well person Bre. =) Merry Christmas (Eve)!

With the year coming to a close, and Felicity packed up under the tree for me to open in the morning, I've gotten to thinking about my doll collection. This year was rather different than the last couple of years. Let's see.

I got three new AG dolls (not counting Lissie). Marisol I got at the beginning of summer for graduation. Amira (#11) and Brittany (#7) came to me at the same time, which was the first time I'd ever gotten two AGs at once.

I got more non-AG dolls than ever before. I never had any other 18 inch dolls before this year... I now have 5! The first was Claire, who is an Our Generation doll. I got Allie (Gotz precious day) on sale at Tuesday Morning not long after getting Marisol. I got my two Journey Girls, Claudia and Stacey, from TRU to be members of my doll sized Baby-sitters Club. Mary Anne (Gotz Little Sister Tess) is also a babysitter, but I got her from a board member.

This was the first year in two years I didn't ask for an AG for my birthday. I got an Ellowyne Wilde doll instead. (Which reminds me... I should really take pictures of her...)

With #11 and Tess (or Amira and Mary Anne) I got two dolls I had been wanting for a couple of years. Because I don't tend to see them on the secondary market often, I didn't think I'd have them anytime soon, but I got them both in a relatively short amount of time. And I wasn't looking for them at the time.

I've also gotten back into play line Barbies in a big bad way. This is probably the first year in many years that I bought a pink box Barbie doll (or several, rather) to go with my vintage and collectible Barbie collection.

I feel like there's probably like a pattern I should be looking for in my collecting habits, but I'm too dense to really make any kind of connection. =P Would be interested in hearing your collecting habits as well!

Baby Noah's new dress and Bre's new doll!

Hello blog friends! I know I'm way behind in my blog reading, and I hoping to catch up today. I miss talking to you guys! For those who don't know, we're still without internet at home, so it's not easy. But we're always very happy when we're able to bum internet off of friends... like today. =)

And as the title hints (or, rather, flat-out says), Noah got a new dress. It's a fairy costume... and do you know where Bre found it? Michael's the craft store. It's from their teddy bear clothes line and was like $4. It fits Noah perfectly. We all think she looks as cute as a baby fairy.

And perhaps most exciting of all, Bre is getting a new AG doll! Our new friend is a graduation present from Bre's mom, and according to UPS, she should be delivered on the 17th. Now, here's the fun part -- we want you to guess who we're getting! And we'll give you a hint -- remember way back in February when we posted asking for opinions on who the next doll should be? Well, this young lady was mentioned on that list. And she's going to be a cousin to one of us modern dolls.

Dolly food stuff by Bre =)

I think I mentioned yesterday that Bre bought some clay and made us some food. Well I have the pics for you now! I'm posting a couple here, but the rest are in the album below. This was Bre's very first attempt at crafting, so be kind! Comments are, of course, very welcome. =)

Album is
here.

Dance dance revolution!

Hi everyone! Sorry for being so long between posts. I missed you guys!

Have you ever played DDR, or Dance dance revolution? It's so fun! I'm not very good at it, but Quinn is like a pro. She can play some of the really fast songs on standard, and I still do beginner on most songs. Bre says DDR is good exercise. How do you like that? Just like anyone over 12, she knows how to zap the fun out of everything. But I suppose we can forgive her. The other day she went to Michael's and bought a bunch of clay and made cool food items for us. I was gonna post pix for you guys, but picasa is acting up. I promise soon though.

Love, W.M.S

The blackout

Hey everyone! We had a really bad storm here there other day (Sunday). At first, it was cool because the wind sounded neat, but then it started scaring Bre's cats and they got nervous. The wind made Bre want to watch The Wizard of Oz, as wind always does, but before we had a chance the power went out. It stayed out until dark! So Bre and her mom got out the lantern, and lit a bunch of candles. The candle light is sorta cool... Bre kept saying it made her feel like it was a long time ago. And because she's like a movie nerd these days, she kept telling us how candles are considered "practical lighting." Weird.
The power came back on in the middle of the night though, so we were thankful not to be without for too long!

Antique Store Finds

Hi everyone! Wendy here. Something super cool happened yesterday! Bre went to a couple of antique stores with her mom and came home with doll furniture!

The first store was kind of a motherlode. She found Samantha's desk for like $20! And it's authentic. Samantha is super excited. She also found this really pretty doll crib for Noah. I like that a lot. The store also had two doll sized wicker loveseats but Bre wasn't able to get one.

Here are some pics:

All of us dolls are hoping Bre goes back again soon. =)

Love, Wendy

It's Just Life.

Hi everyone!!!! Guess what? I'm still alive! *thunderous applause*

Would you like to know where I've been? Nowhere. Here. The internet has been off at our house for over a month. =( Bre and I are going insane! We're spending a few days at Bre's friend's house (which, coincidentally, is where my friend Rachel lives), so we're bumming her 'netz.

Sooo... we started school again on August 24th. It takes a lot of time a day out of my doing nothing time, *sigh* but it's okay. I have a few classes with Nicki, so that's nice. I'm in marching band, and in November we're gonna play in the Veteran's Day parade.

And since I last talked to you all, Bre had a birthday (the big 2-1, if you can believe that!) and we got a new sister... Ivy! =) Everyone here is crazy about her... she's so pretty and has the best stories about San Francisco. Bre also got a new kitten... she now has three cats, and none of them are big doll fans. =P

Travelling Sheridan has come and gone. I don't have pictures at the moment, but we did have an awesome time. Bre has also taken back to school pics of all of us dollies which I hope to be able to show you soon.

I'm sorry I haven't been around to talk to all of you, and that I haven't been able to read your bloggings about what's going on with all of you. If I don't comment on any of your blog posts for a while, don't be offended.

I'll try to do as many posts as I can while we're here for these few days.

Your faithful blogger,
Wendy Madelyn Stein

Bre's post: Wanna talk dolly couture and stuff?

Hello everyone, it's Bre (aka BuckinghamAlice)... Wendy's person. (She insists I say it that way... she's not my doll, I'm her person.) With all the buzz around doll couture, I wanted to talk about it too. I just love looking at it!

I currently own 3 Liberty Jane outfits and 3 by cottage_roses (which Wendy blogged about here). I want my next couture item to be from either terristouch on Etsy or Dollie's Dressmaker. I'm thinking about something for Addy first, since she was my first doll (and the moderns have enough). There is also another Addy outfit that I'm also watching on eBay, but given how those things usually go, I don't have my fingers crossed. Anyways...

From Terristouch, I like these:

These dresses are both in the $20 range. Neither is like anything Addy already has.
The first one looks like something she might wear to school, while the second is a little dressier... a party dress.

Then, from Dollie's Dressmaker, there's this one:

This dress is based on a retired Addy outfit called her Patriotic Party Dress that I never got the chance to get. It usually sells for quite a lot on eBay, and is usually not even complete. The only downside to this dress is that, at $41.95, it's more than the other two. I don't mind paying for high quality though, so we'll have to see. I have a birthday coming up in August (the big two-one!), so maybe I'll get lucky and get one of these dresses.

The main thing I'm asking for as a birthday present is Ivy! She is really darn adorable. And I've already got a terristouch item I want for her.

Couldn't you see Ivy skipping down a San Francisco street in that? I can't stop seeing it, lol. I think Ivy will need to get this dress soon after she arrives. I'm not crazy about her meet outfit, and it isn't as though AG has made a lot of clothes for her!

So I'm going to try very hard to save up my money for couture and nice things for my dolls. I think they deserve it. Any thoughts on which Addy outfit is the best? Thoughts on my plan to get Ivy? Other thoughts? I'd like to hear what you all think. =)

All pictures above belong to their respective owners - Terristouch and Dollie's Dressmaker. I own nothing in this blogging but my humble opinions.

My birthday plans!

Photobucket

Hello all! It's me, Quinn! I'm glad to be posting on here again after everything is chill again with me and Wendy. I missed you guys!

So, I've decided what I want to do for my birthday! We'll be having a picnic outside, and then having a sleepover. We're gonna try to stay up all night! It'll be me (obviously), Wendy (of course), Nicki, my brother Ben (since he lives here), and I don't know who else. There are a couple of other girls at church I talk to, but they aren't really friends. There is one girl in my apartment building I like, but her mom would never allow her to come to a sleepover. When Wendy and I first started babysitting, her mom asked us to watch her, and she's 12!

Anyways, I'm making a playlist of different songs to play at my party. We've all picked a few so far.
I'm gonna try to think of some more songs so we can have a really diverse playlist. I can't wait for my party!

My picks: "Love Story" and "Picture to Burn" by Taylor Swift, "How It Feels" by Eleventyseven, "Hot and Cold" by Katy Perry

Wendy's picks
: "Fences" and "Decode" by Paramore, "All Around Me" by Flyleaf

Nicki's picks
: "Paranoid" by the Jonas Brothers, "I Know" by Drake Bell, "Crush" by David Archuleta

Ben's picks: "I,2,3,4" by the Plain White Ts, "Here Comes Goodbye" by Rascal Flatts

Love, Quinn <3

(BTW, if you saw another post on this blog that was here briefly (about Bob Dylan), just ignore it! Bre posted it on here by accident and then deleted it... and Wendy isn't ever supposed to know it even happened. Shh!)

May Day and the Ridiculous Weather

Today is May Day! My school was supposed to have a May Day carnival today. The carnivals at school are fun... all the kids get released after lunch to the carnival, that way all the kids can come. But then at night, it's really wonderful. There are tons of games, and face painting... and a cake walk! All the lights go on and there are a lot of fun things to do. And there's food everywhere... it's just so much fun. Quinn and Ben were going to come with my family this evening.

But... one thing the school didn't know when the carnival got planned was that the weather is horrible! It's been windy and rainy and plain awful all day! This morning the principal announced that the carnival had to be postponed because of the weather and everything. We may not have it at all now. =/

And I'm not the only one getting fun stuff cancelled. Bre's Anthropology class was going on a field trip to the Zoo tomorrow, but she isn't able to go now.

So Quinn and I are just gonna be watching movies and stuff tonight. That'll still be fun, right? =)

Until next time,
Wendy (Angela Moira Darling) Stein XOXO

Manga Me, among other things.

Hello all. =) I wanted to tell you about my weekend, but I couldn't think of a good title, lol. On Sunday, Bre and her friend (my auntie / godmother) went to the Renaissance faire. I wanted so badly to go, but she didn't think it would be a very good idea. But since they left really early that morning, she had to stay over at the auntie's house. And I did get to go to that! I got to see my friends Rachel, Samantha, and Kit who live there. We had our very own sleepover.

Photobucket
(Left to right: Rocko, Kit, Samantha, Rachel, Rachel's kitty, and me)

Samantha and Rachel belong to Auntie Diana, and Rocko (a BAB) and Kit belong to Auntie Becky, who is Auntie Diana's mom.

I also made cartoon versions of me and Quinn. What do you think?
PhotobucketPhotobucket

In other news, I'm a little mad at Bre. I've been asking her for a Ren Faire costume, but she won't make it for me. It seems all she ever does these days is complain about how much the end of the semester sucks and listen to Bob Dylan. And the Beach Boys. And the Beatles. And don't get me started on her and Billy Joel. *sigh* School will end for her sooner than it will for me... hopefully things will be more normal. And Quinn just came back from her Nana's yesterday... her mom said she'll have to do extra work to make up for the assignment she missed. Which means she isn't allowed to have visitors or come over until she's caught up. *double sigh*

And Bre made a blog of her own. She says none of us (dolls) will be allowed to post on it. Not even me. Well, I suppose that's kinda fair, since I don't allow her to post on here really. Oh well. She also said any of you doll owners (and anyone else) are allowed to read it if you want.

Until next time,
Wendy (Angela Moira Darling) Stein XOXO

Earth Day

Today was Earth Day, and to commemorate that my GS troop did a nature walk. It was really fun! I have a few pictures for you...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Bre made
this album about it... there are a few more fun Earth Day shots. It also has pictures of this other girl Molly's birthday party, which was going on right around the time I climbed the tree. I wasn't invited... But whatever... Girl Scouts was fun today for once.

Oh, and Quinn asked me to thank you all for the advice about her birthday! She's still taking suggestions, so if anyone didn't see
the last post, you can still leave her comments if ya want. =) She'll (hopefully be posting again) to let you know what's going on in her life... I know you don't all wanna hear about everything second hand. ;)

Earlier, I heard my sister Sarah arguing with my mom about this tiny skirt she wanted to wear out this evening. Mom wouldn't let her out the house... and she definitely wouldn't if she knew she was trying to go out with some boy. Even though they're 16, the twins aren't allowed to date yet, but they secretly do. (These girls have such exciting lives...) Well, the only reason I know all this is because Beth and Sarah got into it with each other, so Beth was actually being nice to me. They're always both nice to me when they fight with each other.

Well, I guess that's about all for now. Talk to you again soon. =)

Until next time,

Wendy (Angela Moira Darling) Stein XOXO

New clothes!

Bre got us some new clothes on eBay, and she asked me and Quinn to model for her.

Here is the album. Have a look! Quinn got to wear a formal gown, and I am wearing a skirt. (Yes, you read that correctly. =D)

We got to take a couple of pics of each other for fun. =)

Photobucket
^Quinn took this pic of me. My headshot.

Photobucket
^I took this one of Quinn. She wanted to look thoughtful.

Photobucket
^Bre took this one of us. She likes pics that make us look sweet. =P

In other news, I'm afraid I've gotten a little behind in my blog reading. I'm going to go catch up as soon as this posts. Talk to you all soon, and be sure to let me know what you think of the clothes and pics. I need to know if I have a future as a model. LOL!

Until next time,
Wendy (Angela Moira Darling) Stein XOXO
