Lazy Afternoon with My Friends

Today after school, Quinn and Ashley came over to hang out.  We didn’t really have anything to do, so we planned on just watching a movie or listening to music or something.  We were thinking about playing a board game, but most of the best ones technically belong to my cousin Allie, and she was at her friend Brittany’s house with most of the games we might have liked to play.  So we just hung around and watched music videos on demand and ate pretzels and drank lemonade.  But after a while, Lucy (of Lucy and Keisha’s blog) and her brother Dylan came over.  My older sisters and Dylan wanted to watch the TV (for some lame teenager program) so Quinn, Ashley, Lucy, and I decided to go play outside.  I put my skates on (because I wear them as much as I possibly can!) and we ran around outside, goofed off, and they all took turns pushing me around since I was the only one on wheels.  We had so much fun just doing nothing.   That’s the best kind of day!

Peter's Going Away Party

Yesterday everyone went over to Peter’s house for a little party in his honor.  He’s going to be gone to summer camp for six weeks and I miss him already.  Anyways, I had only been to Peter’s house once before the party because he lives way on the other side of town and has to be bused to school while all my other friends live more or less in walking distance.  I finally got to meet his mom, Dr. Beaumont, who is a respected veterinarian and I met Peter’s best friend Anthony.

Actually, let me back up and tell you everyone who was at the party.  There was Peter (of course) and his sister Zuzu, Ashley and her sister Alice, Me, Quinn, Nicki, Taylor, Anthony, Zuzu’s best friend Angela, and Ryder and Max, a couple of Peter’s Boy Scout and 4-H friends from Shafter.

I’m not sure why, but I felt really shy when I arrived.  I mean, I used to be pretty shy but I’ve gotten better the last couple of years… but man, I felt like such a wallflower at the party.  I’m not like Nicki, who loves boys and couldn’t decide between Anthony, Ryder, and Max so she tried to flirt with all of them.  I’m not like Quinn, who can find common ground with anyone.  I’m not like Ashley, who can make anyone laugh.  I felt really inferior.

Zuzu, Angela, and Anthony stayed in one little group and the rest of my friends were in another little group.  Ryder and Max, who really only knew Peter and Anthony, stuck to themselves.  Nicki went around from boy to boy, and Peter tried to be a good host and went back and forth between all the groups.  And then there was me… and I didn’t feel like I fit in with any of the groups.

Peter didn’t seem to want to talk to me, and when he did, he seemed really annoyed with me.  Once he snapped at me because I offered him a brownie… once I said something and he actually sighed and rolled his eyes.  He was so unlike himself!  I’ve never seen him be rude to anyone… especially not to me…

So after a while, I went and sat on the porch swing out front.  A moment later, Ashley came out and sat next to me.  She seems to always know what’s wrong and what to do to help, because she just put her arm around my shoulder and didn’t say anything.   After a while, we both went back inside and I sat with Ashley and Zuzu while we ate dinner.

Before the night was over, Ashley was mad at Nicki for flirting with Anthony (who Ashley has a big crush on, though she’ll never admit it), Zuzu was mad at Quinn for making herself the center of attention (which she didn’t really do, but I didn’t want to get involved in that argument), and I was mad at Peter for being mad at me.

When everyone was ready to go home, I was the last to be picked up.  I had gotten a ride there from Ashley and Alice’s mom, but they were sleeping over with their cousins so I had to call my dad to come and get me to go home.  Once everyone but the Beaumonts and I were gone, I went and stood outside by myself.  A few minutes after I went out, Peter came and stood beside me.  I didn’t want to talk him… I didn’t even want to say goodbye, but there he was.

He was the first to break the silence.  “Did you have a good time tonight?”
I rolled my eyes to get him back for earlier.  “What do you think?”
“I didn’t think so,” he said quietly.  “I guess I should apologize for that.”
“Why were you so short with me?” I asked.
Peter shrugged.  “I guess I was just… I don’t know… annoyed.  I mean, out of everyone here, you were the only one I really wanted to talk to… and you acted like you didn’t want to be here.”
“I thought you were mad at me,” I said, sighing.  “I just felt sort of… out of place.”
“You’ll never be out of place here or anywhere else where I am.  I’m sorry I didn’t really make you feel like that earlier,” Peter said, blushing ever so slightly.
I smiled and looked away, suddenly too embarrassed to look him in the eye.  “I guess I could have tried harder to fit in.  I was just having a hard time because… I’m going to miss you…”
“I’m going to miss you, too,” he said.

Then he held my hand.  It was really nice.  I don’t know how long we stood there, hand in hand, but we stayed like that until we saw my dad driving up.  Then we both got embarrassed and let go really quickly.

Before I got in my dad’s car, Peter stopped me.  “Hey,” he began.  “My parents gave me this whole roll of stamps… and I was wondering if it would be okay if I wrote to you this summer.”
“Yeah, I’d like that,” I said.  As I turned around, Peter tapped me on the shoulder, took his lucky blue baseball cap off and handed it to me.
“I was sorta hoping you might keep that for me,” he said.  “I mean, I’m not gonna need it at ranch camp, so someone should get some use out of it.”
I smiled, put the hat on, and said, “Bye, Peter.”
So, Peter’s gone to camp and I’m still wearing his hat.  After all of this, I still don’t understand boys… but I guess it wouldn’t be so exciting and interesting if I did.

Leap Day!

Hello, blog friends!  First of all, let me thank you all for your advice on my last post (about my cousin Allie).  She's been feeling a lot better lately, and she says that she's pretty happy here even if she does miss her dad and her godmother.  My parents are going to let her go spend spring break in Germany with her godmother Frida and her dad is trying to arrange it so he'll be able to spend some time with her.  We're all hoping for the best!

Anyways, today is leap day, and although it's not really a holiday, it's a pretty cool day, I think.  So my parents gave me and Allie permission to each have a couple of friends over, but the whole thing got a bit out of hand.

The album where you can find out what happened is here.  Comments are always appreciated.  =)

In honor of Jane Austen week...

Hello, blog pals! As you may have heard, it's Jane Austen week! So I got together with my friends Nicki and Ashley, we borrowed Josefina's regency dresses and did a photo shoot! We're the heroines from some of Austen's most famous works -- Pride and Prejudice and Emma! We'd have gotten a couple of our other friends and done more heroines from her other books, but Josefina only has the three dresses we're wearing, lol. Anyways...

Ashley is Elizabeth Bennet from P&P. Lizzy has dark hair and "fine" dark eyes, is quick witted, sarcastic, smart and funny. She's the quintessential Austen heroine.

I'm Jane Bennet, Elizabeth's older sister. Jane is sweet, compassionate, blonde, and beautiful.

Nicki is Emma Woodhouse from Emma. Miss Woodhouse is a little daft at times, but her heart is always in the right place.

The Bennet sisters

Feeling lovely and ladylike.

Oh, and in other news, in case you don't already know, Lucy, the newest girl here, has opened her blog! It's called Love, Lucy. Go show her some love. =) (She's sad because no one besides me commented on her last blog post...)

Stop motion video: Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

Hey everyone! Bre made a new stop motion video with some of the dolls having a little Christmas themed fun. I'm not in it (so it's not as good as it might have been...) but it's still pretty cool. This is only her second stop motion vid, so she's still working on those skills. Anyways, give it a watch, click like and all that other stuff. Thanks!

Random Pic: Me and my friends

Today's random pic is of me and all my friends. We don't get to be together that often because some of us go to different schools and have crazy schedules, but I like when we can be together.

Happy birthday, Addy!

Hello, everyone! It's Wendy, your ever faithful blogger. =) Today is Addy's birthday. She was Bre's first doll, and she's super nice, so we're all very happy for her. She got a new dress, although I don't have pics at the moment, sorry. Maybe soon.

And you'll all be glad to know that we've had something of a break from all the drama -- Jason and Nicki are talking again. They're not going out or anything, but they are friends, and Nicki feels a lot better about that.

As for Claire, she stood up in English class today and announced that she was nominating me as "Queen of the Dorks." She got in trouble. =) And honestly, I've been called worse. Mostly by her and my older sisters, but still. That was the first thing she's even said since she threatened that none of us is safe.

But really, all of my friends are in some way affected by Claire. Ashley, Nicki, and I share classes with her. She's in girl scouts with me and Nicki. She's in Ashley and Taylor's dance classes, and she goes to the same church as Quinn and Nicki. Apparently she tripped Taylor in ballet the other day. Taylor figured it was an accident, but we all know better. Taking things out on Taylor is so unfair. She's not a part of this. Which one of us is next, I wonder?

Guest Blogger Nicki Speaks

Photobucket
Hello, everyone! This is Nicki M. Fleming... the person who I'm sure you've all heard way more than you ever cared to know about me or anyone else. I'm not big on this whole... online communication thing... I mean, I like IMing and e-mails, but I feel like I wouldn't be able to get my words together enough to write a blog all the time like Wendy does. See, I'm rambling already!

So what I wanted to tell you all about was why Wendy hasn't posted lately. It's sorta a long story...

Okay, so remember she said how Jason IMed her and asked to meet me at the library the next day? Okay, well, I was SO excited because Jason is just so amazing. Seriously. Anyways, I went to meet him and he asked me if I wanted to be his GIRLFRIEND!!!!! And I said yes. I tried to be cool about it, but I really wasn't. So anyways, the next day was the dance, and we all got dressed up for it... even Wendy, although Ashley and I had to beg her to wear a dress. So we were all at the dance, and I was with Jason. There was a slow song on, and he had his arms around me. He's so shy so he was blushing, and it was really cute. I thought he was gonna kiss me, but one of the teachers came by and blew her whistle at us since that's so not allowed at school. Everything was perfect until this nasty, horrible girl that Wendy and I DO NOT get along with named Claire Lozano came up to me and Jason and asked him if he was babysitting me. Claire has a sister in 8th grade and she knows Jason. But when she said that, he was really confused and then she told him that I'm only in 6th grade. He said he couldn't believe I was such a liar, and I ran out crying. I know it was wrong to lie... I don't know why I did it. And it messed everything up.

After Claire ratted on me and I ran out, Wendy got into a fist fight with Claire. Fighting is wrong, but I couldn't help but feel a little bit vindicated when I saw Claire with a bloody nose. But when I saw Wendy being escorted out by the principal I felt super low. She got suspended for two days, detention for two weeks, and grounded for two weeks... all because of me.

All this happened a week ago, and Jason still won't talk to me. Wendy isn't mad anymore, and I'm doing everything I can to make it up to her. What else can I do? Help....

Love, Nicki (no long Nicole) Miranda Fleming

P.S. Here's a pic of me, Wendy, and Ashley dressed up for the dance.

Nicki + Jason = ????

So, you guys remember how I told you about Nicki getting asked to the dance by an eighth grader named Jason Tonner? Well, I'm in the school library typing this right now, because I'm in shock! Jason works in the library for extra credit... that's where Nicki met him. He's been flirting with her since we came back from winter break... because he thinks she's an eighth grader too! Nicki, Ashley, and I were in the library this morning and Jason came up to us and asked if we had Mrs. Arbuckle for English. Arbuckle only teaches grade 8! Ashley and I laughed and said we had Mrs. Lamb (who only teaches grade 6), but Nicki lied to him... she said she had Arbuckle too! And then she told Jason that Ashley and I were here younger cousins and she helps with our homework.

She told Jason she'll go to the dance with him even though her grandmother said she wasn't allowed to go with a boy. And then she made me and Ashley promise we wouldn't tell her grandma.

Nicki has never lied before. What's my friend becoming? She's acting like a... *gulp*... teenager!

Hello from guest blogger Ashley!

Hey everyone! I'm Ashley and my pal Wendy has given me permission to post on her blog! She said she had really neat friends I should meet. =)

So I don't know what she may have already mentioned about me, but my name is Ashley Beaumont and I'm 11 years old. Wendy and Nicki and I got to the same school and have some of the same classes. My best friend is named Taylor Castro... she's amazing! We dance together and have known one another since about forever. That girl is so sweet. My next closest friend is my sister Alice, although she isn't a doll that lives here (yet).

My favorite things to do are dance (obviously), watch silly movies, and read books. I'm pretty into history, and like Taylor I'm a time traveler. I really like to go to Addy and Kirsten's time periods.

Well, I guess that's about it... I hope to get to know you all really well. Bye!

Love, Ashley N. Beaumont (friend of Wendy M. Stein)

The Awesomeness of Ashley

Hi everyone! It's me again, Wendy, here to introduce you to my new friend Ashley.

Ashley is a Just Like You #26, which means she has Addy's face mold, gorgeous curly dark brown hair and this totally unique amber eye color. Her full name is Ashley Noel Beaumont and she was born on Christmas day, 1998. She just turned 11 and goes to my school. What's interesting about her is that she's really smart and was able to skip first grade, so even though her birthday is after the deadline she's in 6th grade. She and Taylor are in the same dance class and they're practically best friends. Ashley is really fun... she loves to watch silly movies and sing and dance along with the radio. And unlike some of my friends, she doesn't mind watching Superman or playing video games. And another neat thing about her is that her family does a lot of travelling so she has cool stories about exotic places. She's a little shy to talk about her travels at first, but once she gets going, she's so excited and animated that you feel like you're on the trip with her! We're still getting to know one another, but I like her a lot already. I'm thinking about asking her to post a guest blog post some time... she says having a blog sounds really fun. =)

Well, that's all for now. Hope to talk to you all again very soon!

Until next time,

Wendy M. Stein, D.D.B. (Dedicated Dolly Blogger)

My first visit to AG Place!

Firstly, hello again, everyone! Wendy here, and I sure have missed you all! Can you believe we still don't have internet at home? Thank goodness we have friends who let us borrow their's. :)

Secondly, I'm out of school for break. Yay! And guess what! Bre has officially finished college! Her graduation isn't until June though, and she's transferring from her junior college to a university, but still. :p

Thirdly, December 9th was my birthday and now I'm 11! And Bre made me official guardian of Coconut, so now I have a dog!!!

Fourthly, Merry Christmas to all my Christmas c
elebrating friends!

And lastly, but most importantly, yesterday I went to American Girl Place! It was wonderful. :) For Christmas, Bre's mommy bought her a new dolly! But we aren't technically allowed to play with her until tomorrow. But her name is Ashley and she's really pretty! She seemed super excited to leave the store. Hopefully I'll get to tell you more about her soon... once we meet that is. :)

AGPLA album is here.

Until next time,
Wendy (Angela Moira Darling) Stein
